Jewelry. From Day to Night.

Take your capsule wardrobe pieces from day to night by altering the jewelry to your already classic look.

Changing into a going-out outfit can be stressful, tiring, and a hassle. Between finding the perfect look to actually changing out of your work clothes, sometime you’re looking to transition from day to night with ease and minimal effort.

I’ve partnered with Britta Ambauen to showcase two classic looks that take you from day to night without changing your outfit.

Taking your look from day to night has never been easier, thanks to Britta Ambauen’s timeless, effortless jewelry. Switching from day to night is as simple as rearranging your day jewelry into a more fun and carefree style.

Day Look Details.

My day look features stacked necklaces, bangles, two rings, and a set of very elegant earrings. A perfect look for a business-casual day at the office.

Transitioning from a day to night look has never been easier. With the chain necklace, which features a dual clasp, you can rearrange the necklace into almost any design you’d like, wrap bracelet, stacked necklace, scoop-back necklace, or even a head piece.

Night Look Details.

When I took my look from day to night, the only aspect of my outfit that I altered was the Favorite Gold Chain necklace. I wanted to create a look that was fun to wear and made me feel confident, so I switched my Favorite Gold Chain necklace from a traditional necklace to a head-piece. Using the dual clasps I was able to effortlessly put this head-piece together, and it changed the entire mood of my outfit from business-casual to night-out-ready.

Accessorize Your Capsule

Finding capsule jewelry can be a tricky process. You want to find pieces that are good quality, will last you a long time, and won’t break the bank. I’ve partnered with Britta Ambauen Jewelry to showcase some truly gorgeous pieces that fit effortlessly into your capsule.

Finding the right jewelry for you is very important. You need to find pieces that accurately represent your personality and style, pieces you connect with, and pieces that will remain classic.

Here is how I decide my jewelry.

The Metal.

Depending on your skin tone might decide what metals you like to wear. I personally have a golden brown/caramel skin tone, which pairs very well with gold tones. Once you’ve decided what metal fits with your tone the best, look to buy genuine metals. Your body can tell the difference between cheap nickel and genuine sterling silver (hello, yucky green band around your finger). Only buy the good stuff, otherwise you’ll have to throw it out in a couple of weeks and we’re looking for pieces that need to last years.

The Design.

Look at how the metal is shaped. Try and find pieces that aren’t too crazy geometric, stick with timeless designs like thin bands, round edges, simple cuffs. I look to buy a balance between daily jewelry and special occasion jewelry, pieces that you can wear effortlessly all the time.

Gems.

One of my favorite lines from Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s is “of course, I think it would be tacky if I wore diamonds before I’m thirty.” I think choosing gems is dependent on your age. I don’t think I could ever wear diamonds, like Audrey said, before I’m thirty. All other gems, on the other hand, are fair game. I love spicing up my fancy jewels with a nice ruby or sapphire. I’m currently obsessed with this amethyst necklace Britta made, it’s a perfect neutral tone on elegant silk lace It goes with everything and is easily stackable.

Have fun with textures.

I have a couple of bangles that stack wonderfully and they have a variety of textures. I like giving a little bit of variety of shape to my jewelry to keep things interesting. Mess around with textures, find what looks good to you, and try to keep it as simple as possible.

Keep it simple.

When styling your daily jewelry, keep it simple. You don’t want to overload your body with jewelry. Think of your capsule jewelry as a way to accentuate your current outfit. I like to add a small necklace, a ring (or two if I’m feeling crazy), and a small bracelet stack. If you have some wonderful little studs, I’d definitely put those bad boys in as well. Have fun with it!
